Current sense resistors are widely used throughout the electronics and in particular the power control industry. Typical applications can include:

  • Motor control – both a.c. and d.c. Current sensing resistors are often used in motor control to sense for possible overload conditions. Automatic garage door openers will typically employ a current sense resistor to determine if the garage door has jammed and if this is the case the current sense resistor is employed to sense an abnormal increase in motor current and stop the motor for safety reasons.
  • Power Inverters and U.P.S.
  • Solar Chargers
  • Pump monitoring circuitry
  • 24 Volt truck accessory monitoring
  • Irrigation Systems
  • Surge limiting applications

The FSR range of current sense resistors are available in both 3 watts and 5 watts. Available tolerances are +/-1% and +/-5%. They are flameproof, come with solderable leads and low inductance.
