There are many applications where it is necessary to have one or several “taps’ on a power resistor. This allows to have different resistance values available on a single wire wound resistor. Applications requiring tapped power resistors can include:
- power supplies
- inverters
- industrial controllers
- heating element switching
- heating and ventillation
- automotive
- rail signalling
- dummy loads
- remote controlled doors
As an example, out tubular wire wound resistors can be supplied with taps as specified by the customer. There is a small reduction in the power rating since winding space is lost. Termination to the added taps is generally via standard ‘quick connect’ terminals or solder terminals. Data here
